Greatham
Church of England Primary School

We are a Voluntary Controlled primary co-educational school for boys and girls between the ages of 4+ and 11 years.  In addition the school has an integrated nursery / reception class.  Nursery children attend for either a morning or afternoon session.  The provision for nursery children between the ages of  3-4+ is 13 per session.  ( We are almost full)

The school is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac at the southern end of Greatham Village, with countryside and woodland on one side and industry, at a distance, on the other.

There are 112 F.T.E. pupils on the roll mainly from the village, the surrounding farms and the Fens Estate, which lies within the Parish boundary. Children from outside this area are welcome and can be admitted for Christian and social reasons, providing there is room.  The small number of pupils attribute to the close, caring atmosphere of the school.

Greatham School has 4 classrooms, a multi-purpose hall (which is well equipped with large and small P.E. apparatus) and its own kitchen. The Early Years classroom is an integral part of the school building. We also have the following provision for work: a computer suite, a wide variety of musical instruments, maths, science and technology equipment and a microwave oven for food technology.

Externally there are grassed playing fields, a playground, a fully enclosed nursery playground, formal gardens and a nature/wildlife area which is being developed and tended by the children.

A Board of Governors administers the school.  This includes representatives of parents, staff, the Parish, the Diocese and Hartlepool Education Authority.
