Child Protection Policy

The Child Protection Procedures follow those outlined in the Hartlepool Area Child Protection Committee file which is kept in the Head Teacher’s office.

The Head Teacher is the Designated Teacher

Aims:

1.    To provide an environment which is physically safe and     secure.

2.    To establish and maintain procedures so that all school staff know how to act if they have concerns or need support regarding a particular child.

3.    To be well informed  about Child Protection Issues and to provide access to outside agencies when required.

Guidelines:

Child Protection procedures exist to aid the protection of any child suffering abuse.  There are 4 main categories of abuse:

            Neglect (including failure to thrive)

            Physical

            Sexual

            Emotional

All staff have an important role in the recognition and referral of Child Protection concerns.  Everyone must follow the correct procedures.

All Child Protection concerns are to be treated as confidential and should not be discussed openly.

All records are kept in a secure place and information will be shown on a ’need to know’ basis  if it will benefit the child.
